Glass Mandarin
Sculptural glass Mandarin, handmade in Auckland, New Zealand by artist Devyn Ormsby. Individually cast from a true to size mandarin into a solid, crystal glass form.
Peeling off the soft textured skin and breaking apart the segments. A sweet tartness touching the tastebuds. The mandarin is the most nostalgic fruit for Devyn.
The tactile rounded shape draws in and reflects light due to the unique properties of high quality crystal glass. Her range of iconic colours make for a statement piece individually, as a duo or as fruit bowl.
Created following the ancient method of lost wax casting. Devyn sees each mandarin through many stages to achieve the finished fruit. Creating a new mould for each one. Adding her signature and year it was made as the final touch.
With this in mind and due to the hand made nature, slight imperfections may occur. Such as variety in texture, glass and size.
