PROCESS

Through the ancient method of lost-wax casting. Devyn creates her glass art from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand.
Each piece is individually hand made. Cast from real life fruit forms, each piece begins in a wax form.

Through many different stages the wax model is transformed into solid crystal glass.
High quality crystal glass is a unique material that catches and reflects the light. It has a high refraction of index. The light waves bend when passing through it. This gives each piece its signature glow.

The crystal glass is then broken out of a plaster silica contour mould. Which requires a new one per cast.
Once cold-worked the final form is finished. Resulting in a solid crystal glass fruit.
Although a labour intensive process Devyn enjoys mastering the art form. She has ideas and new art plans in development. Watch this space.
