Devon Made Glass

‘Devon Made Glass’ originally was a project name for a series of glass fruit created by artist Devyn Ormsby.

Growing organically since debuting in 2019, Devyn has seen her glass fruit reach international recognition. Through the likes of AD, Elle Decoration, Vogue, London Craft, Sight Unseen and more.

Not bound to a single medium Devyn likes to explore and experiment across a wide range of materials, finding herself somewhere between sculpture and painting. She creates artwork that feels true to her nature, that she enjoys and also contemplates on.

Her latest Series "Glass Windows" showcases wooden frames around coloured obscure glass, housing a mixed media painting. Simple and refined in form they reflect Devyn's intrigue of quiet contemplation. Changing and reflecting in the light the window is a metaphor of inner exploration or a voyeuristic view inside the life of another. For more information a catalogue is available on request.

Devyn graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts with first class honours in 2015.

Devyn was born in Masterton, New Zealand in 1993. She is an indigenous artist (Nga Puhi, Ngati Ranginui, Te Arawa, Ngati Kahungunu) as well as mother. She currently works from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand.
